Transport for Somerset Service Updates

Service 28A diversion in Minehead on Sunday 9th August 2026

The FirstBus Sunday service 28A, which operates between Taunton and Minehead, will have a slight diversion in Minehead due to the town centre market.

The Avenue will be closed, meaning the stops on The Avenue, the Railway Station and Warren Road will not be served. Buses will use the full length of Seaward Way to double back via Bircham Road.

Taunton Service 1 weekday diversion during Bossington Drive resurfacing - 17th to 28th August 2026

Between the 17th and 28th August, Bossington Drive will be closed for resurfacing during the week. Service 1 will therefore be unable to serve bus stops at Selworthy Road, Feversham Way, Fletcher Close, Leigh Road, Stoney Furlong, Nerrols Drive and Summerleaze Crescent.

From Priorswood shops, buses will continue along Eastwick Road towards Priorswood Roundabout (O'bridge) and turn left towards the industrial estate, doubling back via Nerrols Farm Roundabout, and continuing to serve the stops at Nerrols Farm and Rowcliffes Garages.

This is a weekday only diversion, with normal services running on Saturday's. The service does not operate on a Sunday.

Service 28 & 28A diversion from Taunton to Minehead until October 2026

The FirstBus service 28 & 28A, which operates between Taunton and Minehead, will have a slight diversion for the outbound Taunton to Minehead route.

When the service departs Taunton's Castle Way, it'll continue as normal as far as Greenway Road, but will then divert at the mini roundabout and go via Bindon Road to get to the Cross Keys Roundabout, and which point the service will resume towards Minehead.

The bus stops at "Westerkirk Gate (West)" and "Staplegrove Village Hall" that head towards Minehead will not be served.

The bus route heading into Taunton will not be affected, except for possible delays going through Staplegrove.

Wellington New Road traffic light works

The traffic lights along New Wellington Road are to be replaced over the next month, which might cause delays for the 22 services, as well as the Park & Ride.

Service 374 diversion from Taunton to Bristol until 19th September 2026

The FirstBus service 374, which operates between Taunton and Bristol via Street, Glastonbury and Wells, will not be serving the A361 route between Othery and Creech St Michael.

The traffic lights in Burrowbridge are currently being replaced by Somerset Council, whom have closed the road while the works take place.

The 374 bus will divert on the East side of Othery (using the A372) via Langport, Curry Rival and towards the Dual Carriageway at Thornfalcon.

Somerset Council will provide a once a day replacement shuttle bus between Taunton and East Lyng.
